The National Anti-Corruption Commission’s Annual Report 2025-26 has been tabled in Parliament.

The report demonstrates that in 2025-26, we:

  • assessed 2,603 referrals, up by more than 25% on 2024-25
  • commenced 20 and finalised 34 preliminary investigations
  • commenced 16 and finalised 21 corruption investigations
  • oversaw or monitored 39 investigations by other agencies
  • secured 2 convictions in Operations Hay and Pelican
  • published 4 investigation reports in Operations Myrtleford, Pelican, Pentecost and Young
  • held 130 corruption prevention engagements with Commonwealth public officials and other community members.

We exceeded 2 of our 3 key performance indicators – the percentage of investigations finalised within 2 years and the number of corruption prevention and education products and engagements.

As a result of our sustained focus on finalising the assessment of referrals received in 2023 to 2024, we halved our open caseload at the end of the financial year. For the first time, we closed more referrals than we received.

We carried forward 540 open referrals into 2026–27 – approximately 25% fewer than the number carried into 2025–26. The reduction of open referrals reflects our sustained focus on improving referral management while continuing to address older matters.

This meant we assessed 68.5% of referrals within 90 days of receipt, which is below our 80% target.

Acting National Anti-Corruption Commissioner Kylie Kilgour thanked the NACC’s staff for their contributions to its performance in 2025-26.

“Our Annual Report 2025-26 reflects that we have continued to evolve as Australia’s newest anti-corruption commission while delivering a significant program of work,” Ms Kilgour said.
