Anyone can make a referral to us or provide information about corrupt conduct in the Commonwealth public sector.
What the NACC does and does not do
We do
- Receive referrals about corrupt conduct in the Commonwealth public sector
- Assess if a referral raises a corruption issue
- Investigate and report on serious or systemic corruption issues
- Support other agencies to prevent and investigate corrupt conduct
We don’t
- Resolve complaints about issues that are not corrupt conduct
- Review decisions made by public sector agencies or courts
- Investigate state or territory agencies or other matters outside our jurisdiction
- Conduct criminal prosecutions or impose penalties
Before you make a referral
The NACC can only investigate serious or systemic corrupt conduct in the Commonwealth public sector. Before you make a referral to the NACC, check if your concern is within the NACC's jurisdiction.

What we will ask you
To help us assess your referral, we will ask you to:
- describe the alleged conduct
- explain why you think it is corrupt conduct
- respond if we ask for additional information
- provide supporting material if we request it
Anonymous reports
You can make an anonymous referral by using the online form. However, we won’t be able to contact you to:
- ask for more information
- discuss your report
- provide protections against reprisals
If you choose to be contactable, we need at least one way to reach you – a phone number or an email address.
